Moving is good for lower back pain. Pilates for lower back pain will strengthen your back, stomach, glutes and legs. Depending on the cause of your conditions some exercises are not recommended, that is why I keep the class simple and safe. Any mild discomfort at the start of the class should disappear as muscles become stronger, this will happen with consistency of correct movement, class after class.
I strongly recommend that you start with class 1 and continue with class 1 till you feel that you mastered the exercises and pain is under control..this should take 3 to 4 weeks then move to class 2 for the duration of 2 to 3 weeks , then continue to move at your own time to the new class.
